This privacy policy applies to WhichDist for Excel (the Microsoft Excel add-in) and the website whichdist.com, operated by WhichDist / NCU Technology. It explains how we handle personal information.

Summary

Free analysis in WhichDist for Excel runs entirely inside Excel on your device. Your selected sample / worksheet data is never uploaded to WhichDist servers as part of the fitting workflow. Personal information is collected only when you choose to contact us, request an academic discount, or purchase Pro through Stripe.

Sample data (Free analysis)

When you use Free analysis, WhichDist for Excel reads the range you select in Excel and computes statistics locally in the task pane. That sample data does not leave your device and is not stored on our servers.

Personal information we may collect

Depending on how you use WhichDist for Excel and whichdist.com, we may process:

• Contact & feedback: name, email address, role, rating, and message when you submit the contact form or email support@whichdist.com. If you consent, we may publish a short testimonial (first name / role only).
• Academic discount: school email (typically .edu or similar academic domains) when you request the student/instructor discount, so we can verify eligibility and send a one-time promotion code.
• Pro subscriptions: billing details processed by Stripe when you upgrade (for example email and payment method). WhichDist does not store your full card number. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment processing.
• Technical logs: standard server logs (such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps) may be recorded by our host when you visit whichdist.com. Contact-form backups store a hashed IP for abuse prevention, not a raw address for marketing.

How we use personal information

We use personal information to respond to support requests, issue academic discounts, provide and manage Pro subscriptions, improve WhichDist for Excel, prevent abuse, and comply with law. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies and analytics

The marketing site does not use third-party advertising cookies or a third-party analytics pixel. Essential hosting and security mechanisms from our provider may set strictly necessary cookies. The Excel add-in itself does not rely on marketing cookies for Free analysis.

Sharing

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate WhichDist for Excel — notably Stripe (payments) and our web host — under their respective terms, or when required by law.

Retention

Support messages and academic-request records are kept as long as needed to provide support and prevent abuse. Stripe retains billing records according to its policies and legal requirements. You can ask us to delete support or academic records we control by emailing support.

Your choices

You may use Free analysis without creating an account. You can decline the contact form, skip academic verification, and decline Pro. To access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, email support@whichdist.com.

Children

WhichDist for Excel is intended for engineers, researchers, and students in higher education. It is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy as WhichDist for Excel evolves. The current version is always posted at this URL.
